The hit police drama from NBC, Chicago P.D. is in its twelfth season which has turned out to be really successful. On March 26, 2025, the broadcast of the show’s sixteenth episode, titled Seen and Unseen, focused mainly on the story of one of the most liked characters – Kim Burgess, the officer.
The new episode has brought up a lot of questions among the fans. What’s going to Burgess at the diner? What is she struggling to recall and how does that influence the Intelligence Unit from now on?
We provide you with a detailed report on each new happening.
Burgess Confronts Trauma in Episode 16
In Seen and Unseen, Marina Squerciati’s character, Officer Burgess, becomes a victim of not only a chaotic situation but also a dangerous one, while in a place that should have actually been peaceful.
It was unexpected that a local restaurant trip should turn into a source of intense gunfire. Burgess exemplarily took the lead to secure safe respect. However, chaos happened, and she was not able to remember the essential things that occurred in a complete way.
The theme of the discussion of the whole episode was how we could help her remember the action. Voight, especially, did everything to help her remember the truth. However, the tension automatically came about as her forgetfulness forced the investigation to stop at several times.
Actually, she’s the person that has faced many such traumas previously. Nonetheless, in recent seasons, she has suffered extreme violence, significant losses, and severe emotional upheavals, but the present concern is a different kind. It is a personal, internal one, and it reflects a side of her hidden for quite a long time.
Season 12 Gets Some New Members
Chicago P.D. Season 12 was kicked off on September 25, 2024, by the first episode named Ten Ninety-Nine. The episode marked the start of a brand-new season and Voight’s law enforcement after being revived from a situation almost fatal in Season 11.
Ever since the new season started, the show has seen an evolution in its narrative. One of the vital characters in this process is Officer Kiana Cook, who is portrayed by Toya Turner. Cook is the new member of the Intelligence Unit and the interaction between her and veteran actors like Atwater and Halstead is really quite different.
Obviously, the screenwriters are very carefully tempering the old school drama genre with the latest trendy tactics. So, the outcome is? A show, which on the one hand is well-known, and even at that, at the same time is new to us.
Middle of Season Break and the Following Episodes
You know most of NBC dramas take a midseason break, as well. And so, Chicago P.D. was one of them. The hiatus was over on 8th January, 2025 which was when the airing of the new episodes resumed. From the very moment the show came back, fans have witnessed one and only one touching episode after another.
Different sources confirm that March 26th saw the release of the 16th episode of this season, which standout because, as we well know, the police genre usually does not delve expertly into such themes as memory, trauma, and mental health.
When and Where to Watch
The NBC network is currently displaying the Chicago P.D. series as a new episode airing every Wednesday at 10/9c. The next-day streaming is accessible only on Peacock which is NBC’s official platform.
Apparently, Peacock offers all twelve seasons of Chicago P.D. for streaming purposes. Therefore, even the new fan combined with an old fan/viewer would have no problem watching this season.
What Lies Ahead for Burgess?
Now fans are predicting what the consequences of Burgess’s amnesia will have in the new episodes. Will it lead to conflict within the team? Will it put her safety, maybe her job, at stake?
No, at least not so far, NBC has not made public any spoilers. Drawing on the current line, we have a clear view that Burgess’s passage will not be that easy. There should be much emotional depth and some possible turning points as long as the season develops.
The issue with Chicago P.D. Season 12 is that it’s not only delivering action, but also, it’s actually adding to it. The series is bringing to the table stories that are getting progressively deeper into the core of real-life human encounters. The present debacle of Burgess’s character is not the only one that exemplifies this trend. Nor is it the most constant challenge that the series is facing to this day
If you have not been following, I’d say from now on would be an optimal moment to catch up.
