As spring is officially here, garden enthusiasts are back to gardens, now looking for offers. One surprising deal has everyone in disbelief and is contributing to saving their moneys too. People were excited and surprised when on April 7, 2025, Aldi announced they were now selling a $4.99 gardening tool that was functioning the same as a similar Home Depot instrument but faster and at less than a half of the price.

If you have the idea of renewing your garden for the whole season, with some money left in the pocket, and without any struggle, then this low-priced device would be the best match for you.

What Is Aldi Selling for $4.99?

Aldi’s latest Special buys is a woven pine bark texture roll that helps in suppressing weed growth and as a result of preventing erosion. Just buy it at the cheapest price of $4.99 and place it under the soil or the mulch without the use of chemical components to keep the weed from growing.

According to The U.S. Sun, the item is gaining attention among the people of parsimonious nature who are used to going to Home Depot or Lowe’s to make their purchases.

How Does It Compare to Home Depot’s Version?

In fact, this is where the tale starts to become even more exciting. Home Depot has stocked a closely resembling of the product which they are retailing at $11.98, and that is still a whole $6.99 higher than Aldi’s offer. Thus, product specs of Home Depot (75 ft in total, 24.3 inch-width, 1mm thickness) can be found, while Aldi has not published the exact ones. Nonetheless, the difference in price is so remarkable that a great number of store clients are ready to switch to the lower-priced item and to give it a try.

The competitive force of this clone lies in the fact it regulates the passage of water and nutrients. Moreover, it also performs the crucial role of a weed blocker. In addition to this, the product is a perfect fit for flower beds, vegetable gardens, and even under walkways or patios since it allows water and nutrients to pass through without any problems.

What Are People Saying?

Even if Aldi doesn’t host customer reviews on its website, shoppers are already disclosing on socials or in the bargain forums. At the same time, Home Depot’s counterpart has gained more than a hundred reviews, and more than 70% of them came from users who rated it with five stars. One of the shoppers referred to it as a “giant garden paper towel” that was “super easy to tear along perforated lines” – exactly what one might be needing for yard quickies.

It is true that the Aldi product does not contain the same features as the Home Depot one, like for example perforations or thickness but the price is just incredible, even for a small or medium backyard project.

Aldi Is Gaining Ground in Garden Gear

In the course of time, Aldi has proven to be a formidable adversary to leading market players. Just last week, Aldi UK announced a $5.99 watering rod that was immediately on everyone’s shopping list. As informed by The Sun UK, it covers 8 spray patterns and is made of a lightweight material with a non-slip grip. The price range for the corresponding items at Screwfix and Amazon was £13-21, i.e., the amount exceeded the desired three times at most.

Aldi’s range of Specialbuys is not only affordable but also of a good quality, and usually, it is hard to place an order since there are limited pieces only. Already popular with kitchen gadgets, patio sets, and now with garden supplies, Aldi has captured the attention of the DIY community looking for affordable and quality stuff.

Why the Timing Matters

Spring is the time when the most sales of garden items are being carried out. With higher temperatures being recorded in most of the U.S., customers are now taking advantage of heavy tools, soil, and the coolest new decors to enhance their outdoor areas. The choice of the $5 as a cost for one of the needed items for gardening is a tantalizingly low price which no doubt has thrown Aldi right into the game as a leader of the seasonal garden market.

And, in a context where prices are jumping and absolutely everyone is keeping an eye on their family’s spending, saving $7 on an item can really drive your money further – especially when you are purchasing a greater number of items for your yards.

If you’re planning on getting a head start on your garden this season, try the $4.99 landscaping fabric at Aldi. It may not have all the functions that the costlier brands have, but it definitely gives the best value for regular yard keeping and spring preparation.

Besides, we just entered the gardening season, therefore, these offers might not be available for a long time.

To view the product or find out more about Aldi’s seasonal garden range, go to the original report from The U.S. Sun.
