Actor Adam Mondschein is holding his ground after being implicated in the legal battle in which Blake Lively sued Justin Baldoni, the director, and co-starring actor in It Ends With Us, an upcoming film.
The lawsuit filed in recent weeks denotes being the alleged victim of a quite unpleasant situation with a birthing scene, which Lively called “chaotic” and “humiliating.” On the 8th of April, 2025, Mondschein took the floor to refute Lively’s claim that her memory of the event is not true.
What Is the Lawsuit About?
It is a lawsuit of Blake Lively against Justin Baldoni in layman’s terms. It was a case where the actress asserted the violence done by the casting of the nude scene in the movie “It Ends With Us” to be unsafe and unprofessional. Lively confessed that the birthing scene is not only filmed in a crowded area but also unregulated. She was also not happy about the use of Mondschein who she identified as a “friend” of the director to play the doctor that delivered her child on the screen.
She was claiming that the casting felt like she was being undermined and that she was not given any voice in the matter. to make matters worse, the lawsuit narrates the experience as the one being emotionally distressing.
Mondschein Pushes Back on the Claims
Adam Mondschein very explicitly mentions that he was in disbelief when the charges against him were brought by Lively. He argued that he had a totally different experience while filming it, and he was displeased by the portrayal of the affair as well.
During his interview, Mondschein declared the following:
“The way I remember things is that the work with her was unsimilar to any of the stories that she told in her lawsuit.”
He was really forceful in pointing out that, during the shooting, Lively was not at all bare, but she had a hospital gown, a pair of black shorts underneath, and a full tummy prosthesis on the scene. He stressed that the atmosphere was always cordial and professional.
Was the Casting Improper?
The lawyers for Lively seemingly tried to hint that Mondschein’s selection was inappropriate, stating that he was a non-local actor who had received the part through backstage preference. On the other hand, Mondschein explained this point very clearly.
He explicitly mentioned that he was a local actor for the project and had covered his own travel and accommodation expenses. Further, he addressed the issue of his professional background, asserting that his documents are accessible and can be checked at any time.
“I was given the job only due to my hard work and my professionalism,” he said, casting the charges of “misleading” and “unfair” on the other party.
Ready to Testify
To the media, Mondschein said that he is personally willing to go to court and give testimony if that’s essential to uncover the truth.
“I should be subpoenaed to tell the truth, and if that is the case, I will definitely tell the truth fully and without violation of the Fifth Amendment,” he added.
The month of March 2026 will be seeing the trial commence in the case with the expectation that it will take that long with the legal proceedings underway, although the experts in the field have a different opinion.
No Response Yet from Lively’s Camp
It is reported that Blake Lively’s camp has not yet commented on Mondschein’s latest statement according to a source close to the actress, but her attorneys simply responded by referring to the original legal complaint.
Moreover, the case has sparked an intense debate on social media. On one side, many supporters of the actors have mixed emotions, with some demanding more clarity in relation to the filming set and its private scenes especially in the nude or simulated medical situations.
What Happens Next?
The legal battle between the Lively and Mondschein is even more of a fight as movie screeners are falling over themselves in preparation for the release later this year of It Ends With Us. The film, based on a novel by Colleen Hoover, was already expected to be one of the most heart-wrenching dramas of 2025, and has now become a topic of discussion for all of Hollywood.
Both parties seem persistent in their stances. If the matter is not resolved behind closed doors, then the lawsuit might be perceived as the turning point in which film shootings start to cautiously adhere to the on-set boundaries and actor safety issues.
