Reddit users are really into a new discussion these days. What are they talking about? People in the United States asinine to iPhones and transferring to Android devices — the idea is to push them.
A Reddit user posted in the r/GooglePixel subreddit, sharing that they were thinking of ditching Apple’s universe, to be exact. The post carries the vibe of a confession. The user stated that they used to be stuck on the iOS bandwagon for almost 10 years but now they are highly considering the Pixel 9 Pro XL which is coming soon. Why? They think iOS is full of bugs and are disappointed with the Apple keyboard as well as poor dictation, also the fact that the notifications on iOS are not enough to wake them up.
The story trended on Reddit because of the number of users showing the same feelings the original poster had. The fact that a large number of users supported the negative comments on iOS led to the post’s going viral.
People who left iPhone, specifically in the US, how’s it going?

Behind the Switch
A significant reason the users consider changing to the new system is the widespread arrival of RCS. This is a messaging upgrade for Android phones that allows high-quality media sharing and read receipts — features formerly exclusive to iMessage now also available in RCS.
A few of the past years, if you changed your iPhone for the Android operating system, iMessage was off. It was a source of the quality of the photos and videos that they shared. It was a big issue especially among the families who were sharing media through mobile devices. Anyway, now, with the help of RCS, that problem is almost solved.
“I usually went back and forth all the time, to be honest,” the original Reddit user stated, “but I finally ended up with iOS because of the really bad SMS/MMS that threw away the pictures and videos.”
Now that RCS is widespread and even Apple has agreed to support it later this year, it’s no longer an obligatory course of action.
Pixel vs iPhone: What Users Are Saying
The Reddit post immediately attracted tens of comments from those who had changed to Pixel from Apple.
One user stated “I switched to the Pixel 8 Pro from the iPhone 14 Pro last month. I’ m not missing anything. The camera has improved, the battery lasts longer, and Android 14 is now more efficient for me than iOS 17.”
Another regretted having been with Apple for so long. They said, “I used to be all loyal to iOS, but now when I want to type in the keyboard, the autocorrect is so bad. Even the notifications make no sense. My Pixel is more straightforward for me, plus hardly there are those annoying bugs.”
Quite a few commentators also took the stance the Apple’s frequent patches and updates end up messing up rather than making it better.
What About the Ecosystem?
A big selling point of Apple was how well Apple devices worked together. iPhones, MacBooks, Apple Watches, and AirPods were easy to pair up markedly. Not all users can get used to the idea of leaving this group.
Interestingly, in this particular conversation, nearly everybody said that they had cut loose most extra Apple IoT gadgets and seldom used them.
“I never wear my Apple Watch,” the original post read. “Most of what we do is in Google services anyway.”
To this statement, many users concurred. For example, they are particularly fans of the majors like Gmail, Google Photos, Google Calendar, and Google Drive, none of which are present on iPhones.
Is Android Really That Much Better Now?
Another point that came up in the Reddit thread is how far Android has come in the last few years.
An android phone of today, in particular Google’s Pixel models and Samsung’s Galaxy lineup, offers a hitch-free, reliable user experience. Android 14 (and the forthcoming Android 15) introduce new interfaces, faster performance, and effective safety measures.
If some people felt iOS 17 and 18 were irritating or had some bugs, android would seem to them like a breath of fresh air.
Should You Switch?
Among the several debates that have been ongoing, this topic is making iPhone users worry. If you’re disgruntled with iOS or feeling kind of lost in the apple environment, it may be the perfect time to have a view of both OS.
The chat also indicates that iPhone is no longer the only option. People are trying their luck with other brands, and many are happy they did.
However, the decision lies on the user. Apple’s platform, for instance, might ask you to abandon some of your favorite apps and services, but the corresponding loss on the other side might make you feel that Android is the way to go.
