John Lithgow in Talks to Play Dumbledore in HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ TV Series

The adaptation aims to put a retelling of J.K. Rowling’s book series and is expected to last more than a decade.

Even though the casting has not been confirmed by HBO, insiders claim that Lithgow is the frontrunner for the position. Having won Emmy and Golden Globe awards during his extensive acting career, the audience is stunned to see his take on the Dumbledore headmaster role.

The film has already received accolades, described by Stephen King as “one of the best horror movies of the year.”
It will afterwards be released for streaming on Shudder in late 2025.

He also starred in ‘Jimpa,’ a multi-award winning headliner of the Sundance Film Festival Directed by Sophie Hyde.
