Marvel fans are now in the knowledge of baby Franklin Richards after watching Fantastic Four: First Steps, and this may be their first real look at him according to the film presented.
But the moment, which looked like a normal family celebration, suddenly suddenly changed its character. The entry of Franklin into the MCU has a deeper significance, rather than to establish the Richards family as some people think.
And now, the internet is swamped with theories.
Who Is Franklin Richards?
Franklin Richards is the son of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Sue Storm (Invisible Woman). In the Marvel comics, he’s no ordinary kid.
Franklin has reality-bending powers, including the ability to create entire universes. He has been called one of the most powerful mutants in Marvel history.
But until now, he had never appeared in the MCU.
Franklin in a state of infancy is our observation in the first part of The Fantastic Four, called ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps.’ His presence elicits empathy and admiration from the audience.
The filmmaker, Matt Shakman, in an interview just before the release echoed the words that Franklin was “core to the family sense of the Fantastic Four.”
The Galactus Connection: Why Fans Are Buzzing
But where things start to get interesting is as follows.
In the trailer of the movie and the first backdoor, it is known that Galactus is the movie’s main enemy. A voice unseen by the audience implies the “collision of the youngest and the oldest in the universe.” With this piece of information, fans are going mad trying to find a connection between baby Franklin and Galactus–the cosmic force who consumes planets.
Still, there are people in the Marvel universe who believe that this is more than just a metaphor or a game of words.
For them, it is more of a possibility that the storyline could resemble the one in the comic a few years back, where Franklin Richards ultimately came to be Galactus.
Is it the intention of Marvel to let such an idea grow until the twist occurs in the movies?
Shakman dismissed that theory in a July 22 interview, saying, “The film isn’t about destiny. It’s about contrast. Franklin and Galactus are opposers.”.
However, fans remain skeptical.
Franklin Richards’ Powers: A Future MCU Weapon?
We will try to see at a few of the potentials.
Franklin has been portrayed in the comics, even as a kid, as the one who can alter time, build pocket dimensions, and warp matter at a cosmic level. No character in the MCU has shown this level of strength never Doctor Strange or Wanda Maximoff.
How does the MCU fit into this picture?
Franklin might be the one whom everyone expect to make a surprise attack in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.
A leaked post-credits scene has a mysterious person (probably Doctor Doom) who secretly watches a Franklin video. The place appears to be futuristic, and some people dub it “Latveria of the future.”
The Return of Mutants?
One of the main theories is that Franklin’s existence implies a gradual introduction of mutants into the MCU.
Phase 7 of the release would be an approximate estimate according to a statement by Marvel in which they confirmed the coming of the X-Men. Franklin serves as an entry point to a future where mutants are loved and respected.
Franklin is identified as a real strong mutant in the comics as he is an Omega-level mutant which is the rarest and most powerful one.
On the contrary to other heroes, whose powers are due to, for example, accidents and magic, Franklin is one of the mutants born with it.
The fact that he has been introduced at an early age, while he is still a baby, puts Marvel in a situation where they can afford to bring him up through the storyline stepping by step.
Comics Tie-In: A New Generation Begins
Right before the movie was scheduled to come out, Marvel Comics republished Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius, which is a comic that brings awareness with gentleness and is aimed at small readers.
The publication describes Franklin as an intelligent and inquisitive kid who has a robot buddy called H.E.R.B.I.E.
Marvel is especially trying to build up Franklin Richards as someone who can be a major character both in the pages of a comic book and on screen.
The comic book drop anecdote suggests to readers that Franklin is always involved in funny experiments which quite often end up badly, but he never gives up; he…>
With these words, Franklin Richards will have both a different kind of newborn and someone with a pretty amazing future at the same time. He may be a new character of his kind in comparison to the great pool of characters…
A Boy with a Great Future
In many ways, Fantastic Four: First Steps is taking a route no MCU film has taken so far. Rather than just putting together another team of superheroes, the idea is to have a superhero family.
It all revolves around baby Franklin.
He certainly would go the way he was intended to, whether as a hero, as a cosmic god, or as some other character; in any case, Franklin Richards will be the MCU’s next unexpected fact.
The arrival of Franklin Richards could be interpreted as a little event at first glance. Yet, the more you think about it, the more significant it becomes.
Although this baby never voices out any of his thoughts, the picture he creates is one of the pathways the future of Marvel may take. The endless rumors and theories from the fans, when about half of…>
