Actor Matthew Lawrence , who is known for his roles in “The Comeback Trail,” “Glow,” and has recently appeared on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” has recounted an incident that occurred on the set of a movie in 1999. One day actor Matthew Lawrence openly disclosed that an onstage mistake happened while working with Gabrielle Union. The mishap took place during the shooting of the 1999 dramatic comedy film “H-E Double Hockey Sticks.” Lawrence was discussing the event on the podcast called on “Magical Rewind” where he shared the story about how Gabrielle told production that a conflict with the way a scene was supposed to be shot occurred while they were rehearsing.

What Happened on Set?

Union spoke to him about doing a scene together before working on it. Union stated to Lawrence she was not interested in rehearsing because she felt he was the best when it came to spontaneity. Union said that In turn, that was Lawrence’s answer and then the latter went to the director and producers to complain.

The young man confidned to the media that that was the time when he was reprimanded for behaving badly but he never decided to act in such a way again. He also noted that action took place in the bliss of his career, which he described as a massive inconvenience, while also adding that there was no ill-will between him and Union.

Lawrence’s View on the Situation

Besides the mishap, Lawrence lifted Union into the sky for her respect for the work done well. He was well aware of her excellent dedication to her work and that professionalism was the central component of her life. Moreover, he pointed out that at that time, Union’s career was just beginning, and she was recognized for her commitment.

“She was a super talent even way back then,” said Lawrence, “I admire her dedication to the craft. She and I just had differing approaches to acting.”

Gabrielle Union’s Career at the Time

At the end of the 1990s, Union’s acting job was catapulting her to a higher level. In 1999, she scored small roles in now classic teen movies “10 Things I Hate About You” and “She’s All That.”

One year later, in 2000, she was in a cheerleading movie film that became a hit. The film was a big hit and really helped her become one of the most demanded actresses in Hollywood.

She was also in movies like “Bad Boys II”, “Think Like a Man”, and “Breaking In” over the years. She was also a major character in the very popular drama series “Being Mary Jane” on BET.

Acting Differences and On-Set Communication

For Lawrence and Union, the incident of misunderstanding is a good example of actors who choose different ways to rehearse for their roles. One of the actors likes to absorb lines through repetitive rehearsals while the others assure authenticity by using natural responses.

“I am getting the lesson from that happening,” Lawrence stated. “At times, you need to adapt to the approach of your co-actress. Acting stands for the power of joint work.”

Where Are They Now?

Lawrence is very much into showbiz. He is now co-hosting the “Brotherly Love Podcast” with his siblings Joey and Andrew Lawrence. As a matter of fact, he has been a part of various film and television productions over the last decade.

Her star is still bright in Hollywood, also. She recently announced a new film project she is working on and continues to be an advocate for social issues such as diversity in Hollywood.

Fans React to the Story

Lots of people who loved Lawrence’s story responded on the web. Some saw it as a comedy blast from the past time of 1999 Hollywood, and yet others complimented Union for her unwavering professionalism on set.

“I like and respect them both, but I support Gabrielle’s decision to rehearse!” a twitter user wrote. Another one shared, “I really appreciate Matthew’s sincerity in this case! It’s not about a quarrel. The matter is just different acting styles.”

The first time the picture was taken was when Matthew Lawrence and Gabrielle Union were occupied doing the scenes which actors also do in a truly unique way of preparing for their roles. Even though it was a bad thing for Lawrence at that moment, he prefers to think of that time as professional growth opportunity.

The two celebrities have burgeoned their acting careers in Hollywood since then, which means that a relatively small problem on the set was not an obstacle to their gaining recognition.
