At 70 years of age, Pierce Brosnan is currently enjoying one of his most active professional years. From espionage thrillers to crime stories — and beyond even artistry — the former James Bond actor is revealing that he does not even think about retiring.
It was on March 30, 2025, that Brosnan starred in two major projects — one on the big screen and the other on a streaming platform — both of which have attracted fans’ and critics’ attention in equal measure.
Back in Action: Brosnan in ‘MobLand’ and ‘Black Bag’
A Gangster Turn in MobLand
In the latest Paramount+ crime drama MobLand, Brosnan is cast as the lead, Conrad Harrigan, who is a man of intelligence and calculation in a dangerous war over the gang’s territories between the crime families of London. The show, Haiung, Tom Hardy, and Helen Mirren in the lead roles, debuted on March 30 and has gained much popularity being among the ten most-watched releases this Spring.
Harrigan is not only the head of the gang, but he is also the think-tank orchestrating events from underdressed. The audience has paid tribute to his cool and laid-back act, interpreting further that he oozes a bit of Bond-like elegance into the underworld.
Spy Games in Black Bag
On the same occasion, Brosnan showed up in Black Bag, a thrilling new secret agent movie that was on the market, directed by Steven Soderbergh. The film stars Cate Blanchett as a British Intelligence officer, who is trying to find out who the traitor is — probably her own husband.
Brosnan’s character is Arthur Stieglitz, a long-serving MI6 officer facing a multitude of fabrications. Blanchett was electrifying in her scenes with Brosnan, unearthing the gradually diminishing streak of his dramatic abilities. Although the film was critically acclaimed, it did not perform well at the box office.
A Different Kind of Power in Giant
Apart from the said roles, he is also diving into the sports drama genre. It has been reported that Brosnan will be starring as Brendan Ingle, the boxing coach of Prince Naseem Hamed. The Giant biographical film, where we follow the life of a young man who later becomes a world-famous boxer, is directed by Gavin O’Connor and just started filming in April 2024. It is produced by Balboa Productions, which is Sylvester Stallone’s company, by the way.
The movie will have Amir El-Masry play Naseem Hamed with a focus on the star’s journey in the boxing ring. His is a character that will have a significant impact on the world and, interestingly, it will be quite a change from the type of role that used to be his hallmark.M(?)R/ANDROID0000.6.0[UD]nhe/HpiPCyAnF[UM]?e0020.0?P_AyoOadMqUsy?z6 That’s notably where Pierce Brosnan will
Returning to the Past in The Last Rifleman
While talking with the press, Brosnan got quite emotional, he said, before attending the premiere of The Last Rifleman, which took place on November 5, 2023, on Sky Cinema. The story of the film revolved around Artie Craw-ford, a former WWII soldier, who, by the way, journeyed all the way from Northern Ireland to France to visit the graves of his fallen
The representation of a true story was what the movie was based on and we could see a softer and more thoughtful side of Brosnan in it. The actor has received numerous compliments of how deep he had presented his feelings and the film has seen the climax of his career being one of the most
He’s Also Painting
Though Brosnan is quite busy with his acting, he still takes time off to advertise his visual art. At the beginning of the year 2025, he promoted his latest print collection enti-tled as ‘Malibu Tulips’. Each original painting of this series, which is a limited edition, was signed personally by him.
As an artist, he is making a name for himself especially with his latest work that is shared on social media by the artist himself. There are also a lot of his paintings on display on his website, and it is clear that the artwork is mainly influenced by the nature and coast
Speaking out on the future of James Bond
It recently came to light that Mr Brosnan made some really strong comments on the James Bond franchise and its future. During an interview with The Guardian, he said that the next James Bond definitely had to be British, and there were not going to be any non-British options. He also shared that the franchise needed to deal with toxic male characters and that a new, respectful approach was long overdue.
People around the world have reacted to these comments with anger, especially with Amazon using the Bond franchise rights and planning a new era of the series.
A Year of Success and Many More to Come?
With leading roles in movies, streaming, biopics and even painting and public commentary, Pierce Brosnan is still a driving force in the worldwide culture industry. Although he may not be the world’s savior in tuxedos anymore, he is definitely the reason why viewers never switch off their screens.
Be it mafia chiefs, war veterans, or secret agents, 2025 is shaping up as the most vibrant, diverse year of his long career.
