Samsung’s One UI 7 Delays: A Step Back in Timely Updates

by Amiya Nandy in Phones on February 17, 2025

Samsung’s One UI 7 Delays – The hints and promises kept on coming about the One UI 7 update but the users seem to be stuck with the delays. The update was initially promised to come out right after the Android 15 but Samsung did not roll out according to the already established plan. Many Galaxy phone users are wondering if they will be able to have the latest software soon.

What is the Reason for Samsung’s Delay of One UI 7?

In the past, Samsung was famous for providing software updates in a very timely manner. One UI 6 was deployed to the Galaxy S23 series on October 30, 2023, which was coined with Android 14 just slightly less than a month ago. Unfortunately, there is no One UI 7 on the market.

Google rolled out the latest version of Android, Android 15, which was scheduled to be released on October 15, 2024, for Pixel devices. A majority of the users expected Samsung to announce the availability of the One UI 7 beta right after that. There was no news on the matter even though several months passed. As a result, the beta version for the One UI 7 was finally made public on December 5, 2024, for the Galaxy S24 series. This has turned up as the two-month delay that the former rollouts had taken.

Samsung’s Official Rollout Plans

Samsung was going to officially bring the One UI 7 to the market with a launch of the Galaxy S25 series on January 22, 2025. The new phones came out One UI 7 pre-installed and users of older models are eagerly awaiting their turn.

The Samsung rollout plan goes like this:

  • Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra – Released with One UI 7
  • Galaxy S24 series – Still on beta testing
  • Older Galaxy models – No official release date announced

It might be true that the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series will not see the light of day until April or May 2025. Consequently, some of the users will go without the update for more than six months after the Android 15 launch.

How This Delay Affects Samsung Users

The setback is quite a bummer for the Galaxy device ownersbrand. A lot of the people= who had been waiting for one UI 7’s arrival, such as the following:

✔ An update of AI technologies,✔ An improvement in battery life, and✔ A new user interface theme

Nonetheless, solely the users of the device Galaxy S25 are having a chance to witness these.

What’s Causing the Delay?

Unfortunately, Samsung did not disclose the exact reason for the slow rollout of One UI 7. Nevertheless, according to the available information, a few of the possible reasons are:

  • Even More Intricate Software – One UI 7 will undergo remarka¬ble design alterations, which might take more time due to testing of the features.
  • Degree of Interaction between Galaxy Programs and the AI Engine – The exceptionally advanced Galaxy AI that Samsung has just released could pose some difficulties in the modi-fication process of the old software.
  • Compatibility Errors – Samsung needs to check if the older GV models can bear the load of the new software without a factory reset?

Community Reactions: Frustration Grows

Another set of fanatics who had the rare chance to give their opinions about the missing of the highly anticipated One UI 7.

Ms. Watson shouted:🗣️ “What are you guys sitting around for? You promised me quick updates and now I am struck with an old version that is about to be obsolete.”

Continuing the discussion, another user remarked:🗣️ “What’s the deal with Samsung holding off on updates for months now? I mean these were the guys who did an excellent job of rolling out updates quickly.”

Can Samsung Fix This?

To date Samsung has been one of the greatest supporters of Google’s idea of providing timely updates to its devices. However, this delay may result in South Korea’s supplier losing its good image.

To mend this, Samsung must:

✅ Communicate every now and then the dates when the updates will become available

✅ Deliver One UI 7 on time for the older models

✅ Make sure that they do not have the issues of delays in the future if they release updates

Samsung has been performing very slow with its One UI 7 rollout and this is the slowest we have ever seen it, perhaps in years. For the first time in the history of this company, there were almost no problems with the updates so it was a very big shock for the users to learn that the update was not there.

Samsung’s update procedure has to be fast, as otherwise, it can lose customer trust. It could be that the company resolves these problems in the short run and bring One UI 7 to more devices.
