Pop star Selena Gomez revealed an unexpectedly cringe-worthy first kiss with her “now-fiancé,” music producer Benny Blanco. A memory that both of them will always remember.
On a recent appearance on Table Manners, a popular podcast hosted by Jessie and Lennie Ware, the 32-year-old singer opened up about the actual event on that night when love was still in the air. Gomez admitted that in addition to love, it was also the start of her rashes and blushes.
A Kiss That Changed Everything
The couple was at the beginning stages of their relationship that’s when they were playing the conversation card game “We’re Not Really Strangers,” cuddled up on the couch for the second kiss of their date, and this game made them talk about various issues and give many of the questions automatic answers.
By the reporter’s account, one of the cards led them to “take a selfie with the person next to you,” which resulted in Gomez leaning her head on Blanco’s chest and taking a picture. He tells us that from that instant he felt the connection was right.
“I saw her and thought, ‘I have to kiss her this moment,'” he said. “Therefore I kissed her in that moment.”
Commenting on the kiss, Gomez talked about more than just a good kiss but also something meaningful.
“It was not like any other kiss,” she said. “I had not liked anyone in a very long time. Sometimes you just can’t get enough of kisses… but this was clear, it was a different feeling.”
The Unexpected Rash
The story might be mistaken for a romantic movie but Gomez confessed that her body responded differently. Right after the kiss, she got a rash all over her face.
“She was really nervous,” Blanco said. “Her heart was beating fast and she got a rash. I asked her if she was alright and she tried to play it cool.”
Selena has acknowledged it by commenting on the scenario and uncovering that she was the source of shame. “I didn’t really want to say, ‘I really like you,’ but I was overwhelmed. It was the first instance in years that I felt I was in love,” she stated.
A Journey From Friendship to Love
At the start of 2023, their love story officially began, though they had been friends for more than ten years. They were first introduced in 2013 through Gomez’s mother, and after that, they worked together on multiple songs from her Revival album, including Kill Em With Kindness and Same Old Love.
The couple went public with their romance in December 2023 while at the same time announcing their engagement a year later.
“There’s no better time to start forever than now,” Gomez penned in a December 2024 post, attaching a photo of a close-up of her new ring.
Ever since then, the pair has been visible in the public eye with combined appearances being bolder than before, including their own product-themed mall quite cheesy prom photo shoot and an event of a Passover Seder where they sang karaoke to their own song Bluest Flame.
A Different Chapter in the Works
Even though their dance cards are full, the couple has been keeping the fans entertained with their humorous and intimate moments — which now include a lot of fun, music, and even a few itchy rashes.
Watching them perform on stage together or cuddle, proves that the emotional connection between them goes beyond the superficial.
