Who Exactly Gets Paid on August 1?

Not every Social Security recipient will receive a check on August 1. That’s what most people miss.

The early deposit date applies only to specific groups—those whose normal payment dates clash with weekends or who meet unique eligibility timelines. If you don’t fall into these categories, your deposit date will stay unchanged.

So, who qualifies for the early payment on August 1?

✅ Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients
Every single person receiving SSI will get their benefit on August 1. This includes individuals, eligible married couples, and what the SSA calls “essential persons” (those who care for SSI recipients).

✅ Retired Workers and SSDI Recipients Paid on the 3rd
This group includes people who started receiving Social Security or SSDI before May 1997, or those who get both SSI and Social Security. These folks typically receive their payments on the 3rd of each month—but since August 3 is a Sunday, their money is coming early.
