Gentile, the third season, is the last season of Righteous Gemstones, and it comes to an end with the episode “Wonders That Cannot Be Fathomed, Miracles That Cannot Be Counted.”
Locusts calamity, family issues, and general chaos were the highlights on that Sunday’s episode, and the fans cannot get over it.
Extreme Game Show
At the beginning of the episode, the Gemstone siblings Patrick, Judy, and Kelvin were getting ready for a memorable but challenging live game.
After plotting and maneuvering through various circumstances, Baby Billy came up with an inspired idea of having a Bible trivia game show called the Bible Bonkers for the church.
The main thing was to take part in the contest and, in case of your win, to partner with the famous car driver Dusty Daniels.
But, alas, what once was a noble idea now quickly went wrong.
Silent Banes, The Plot, the Explosive Havoc
Peter Montgomery, May–May’s ex-husband who had been a source of danger to the Gemstone family for a long time, showed up assuming a threat.
He drove a van full of explosives to the event with the intention of killing the Gemstones and blowing up the venue.
Just when Peter was set to carry out the operation, a most unexpected event took place.
At the height of the excitement of the contest, there was a sudden invasion of locusts at the venue, the audience went into a frenzy and it was a scene that had all the hallmarks of a biblical story.
Lion’s Breath. A Non-Bloody Sacrifice
In a twist that no one could have anticipated, Peter opted to not execute his deadly plans.
He pushed the van, which was full of explosives, to the end of the venue and in that time, the audience was already thinking it is a miracle.
The van exploded miles down the road, and it was natural for everyone to think that Peter had given his life.
However, the story was not over.
It emerged later that Peter was the one who got out of the explosion alive but who lost one leg as a result.
This twist was a perfect plot device for a touchy moment of reunion, forgiveness and family healing as Peter reconciled with May^May and their sons.
The Gemstones See the Light
Despite all the commotion in the day, the day’s happenings had in the end brought the family to a closer bond.
The family was seen in the last scenes celebrating life and togetherness, taking shade under a big tree.
Gideon vowed to become a preacher. On the other hand, Jesse pledged to send Pontius, his rebellious son, to a military academy.
Moreover, there was a part with considerable symbolism where the entire family used the Redeemer Monster Truck to smash old furniture, thus indicating a new and fresh beginning for everyone.
Beauty in the Midst of Chaos
The critics have showered a lot of love on the final episode of the show’s third season which was exemplary for a combination of both wacky humor and the actual emotional growth.
In the opinion of The A.V. Club, it was ‘a miraculous sendoff’ that upheld the program’s blend of satire and sincerity.
The fan reaction also showed widespread admiration for the show’s surprising character redemptions and their capacity to still remain the same after delivering unexpected moments.
A Fourth Season for The Righteous Gemstones?
At this time, no announcement from HBO has been made regarding the fourth season’s premiere.
However, the manner in which Season 3 came to an end — with new starting points and loads of uncompleted storylines — suggests a yet uncharted path.
Things like Gideon’s journey to church and the Gemstones’ continuous reign over the empire have gotten a lot of people curious and therefore win the audience’s attention, their responses, etc.
