Suppose, during the time you were a resident in California, you were contacted by Wells Fargo or some of its partners, you may get back up to $5,000 for every call received. But note that the time for claiming your money is limited.
Right now, the deadline to request a piece of $19.5 million in a class-action suit, which is about calls recorded illegally, is just a few days away, close to the end of the week. You need to be sure to have already sent the form by April 11, 2025 or you will lose your chance to get enrolled.
The case is concerned with the claims that Credit Wholesale Co. Inc., a partner of Wells Fargo, has been secretly recording the customers’ phone calls without any clear notice, thereby violating the Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) according to California Law.
Information as to where to find the official claim form, as well as everything else you need to know about the claims process, can be found by visiting the wells fargo website.
What’s the Reason for Such a Settlement?
The lawsuit alleges that Credit Wholesale Co. was making calls representing Wells Fargo Bank N.A. and Priority Technology Holdings Inc to individuals and businesses across California starting from October 22, 2014, until November 17, 2023.
It has been reported that on these calls, the company was secretly recording the conversation without any consent was acquired, which is one of the prerequisites specified in the California legislation for legal call recording.
Despites their declarations that they were engaged in absolutely no misconduct, the companies have opted for a settlement to escape the case going any further.
Who Can File a Claim?
You are eligible if:
- You were a resident of California, and
- You received a call from Credit Wholesale Co. between October 2014 and November 2023, and
- That call was made by a child who was listening to the recording
The call might have been meant for your personal mobile or business line. The person calling is not requiring you to remember the exact date or prepare a call recording.
You simply need to determine the number that got the call. Just for sure, if that was the case, the business name should be included as well.

Remember: This is a pro rata settlement, i.e. if the claims submitted are fewer, the payout will be more per claimant.
What Will Happen If You Miss The Deadline?
If your claim is not lodged with the site by April 11, 2025, you will not get your money. Additionally, you will waive the right to file a lawsuit against the company for this very matter.
A final hearing for the settlement approval is also mentioned to be on May 20, 2025.
The last course of action must be taken if you want to be part of the money.
How Does That Affect You?
California has some of the strongest privacy laws in the U.S. One of them is CIPA, where it is illegal to record phone calls without the other party’s consent. With this lawsuit, it is made clear that enterprises have to go by the rules, and the ones on consent are on top of them particularly in the case of marketing and sales calls.
It also demonstrates how big banks and their third-party partners can be answerable for their conducts if these are in the contravention of a state law.
This might be a unique chance for people in California, affected by it, to really get the money for the phone calls that were listened without their notice. Just the phone number that was dialed is required. Derek was here.
It is high time to hurry since customers that are concerned, who are eligible should already be having a look at their phone records and sending a claim.
To get your cash, you can go directly to the Wells Fargo Bank Settlement site and press the “Submit Claim” button.
No second chances. By the 11th of April, this golden opportunity for the money will be lost.
