Fans got an early surprise about the upcoming Superman movie that was directed by James Gunn. The additional movie was DLC&’s The Kill List, and it was first revealed by the cast in an interview with the “Charlie Rose” show.
Previously, in December 2024, we had access to only a teaser trailer but the fresh uncut version brings so much new. We were there to see the presentation of new characters, emotional moments, and a strange but also heartwarming scene where Superman&’s dog, Krypto was the hero.

The release date of James Gunn’s Superman has been set for July 11, 2025. The studio confirms that a longer cut of the trailer will be presented during IMAX showings for gamers watching Minecraft: The Movie this weekend.

Reddit, YouTube, and Twitter are where most of the fans’ reactions come from and they are a mixed lot but with hope being the common denominator. On the one hand, some are of the opinion that DC is experiencing a rebirth; while others wonder how such a large cast of characters will coexist in one story.
However, the one thing they can’t question is the fact that James Gunn is really doing a good job. He is certainly a game-changer.

The presence of Krypto, healing robots, and the return of Lex Luthor in this Superman character gives me both a fresh and unique vibe. And a successful restoration of the universe might be counted as a turn in the right direction for D.C.
