Actor Michael Rooker returns to the big screen with two film projects in 2025, one of which is a Western and the other, a member of the DC Universe.
Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 that stars Kevin at his best is the first of these two films. Here, Rooker is in a significant position. It is a historical film set during the Civil War, though the film was not a commercial success, Rooker has commented that the film reflects the type of potential Hollywood has for “real cinema” use.
Another film Rooker is associated with is Superman, to be released by James Gunn. Its worldwide premiere is slated for July 11, 2024. In this movie, Rooker has been given the job of performing voice-over of a Kryptonian robot and it looks like it is going to be one of the blockbusters in the summer.
He helped Costner to fulfil his Wild West vision:
Rooker executes the role of Sgt. Schultz, an Irish officer who is leading the path in the west, in Horizon. The movie features an extensive cast and deepens the story by showing not only one but several plots that intermingle such as war, land conflict, and family. The film, in spite of the promotional campaign, personal investment from Costner of $38 million and a very good opinion of the critics, did not do more than $11 million on the box office at home.
Rooker stayed unabashed in his support of the product.
Following complaints that the movie’s almost three hours’ length was too much, he replied. “It’s the age of instant video and short clips. People prefer to watch short content. Some stories, however, are just not short. Horizon is one of them.” With this, he suggested that the audience should go for a longer, story-oriented movie, so that they will be able to engage more with it.
Conspiring with James Gunn again:
At present, Michael Rooker is lined up for Gunn’s latest Superman movie. Despite several announcements about the cast of the movie, including David Corenswet, who plays Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan, who is Lois Lane, Rooker’s role was still the unknown element. This was cleared later.
Michael Rooker is going to voice one of the Kryptonian robots, according to the latest information, which gives a new futuristic and out-of-this-world angle to the story of the movie. This adds to Rooker carrying on his great collaboration with James Gunn, coming from the Guardians of the Galaxy films, where he was Yondu.

“It’s not just about entertainment,” Rooker said. “It’s about giving people something to think about, to feel. You can’t always do that in 90 minutes or less.”
