The fitness movement known as Hyrox has really caught on in America, with a lot of people taking part for the joy of it. The entire body is used in the Hyrox races which are all about functional strength and endurance. However, you can still get a similar experience without being part of the race.

This innovative 3-move Hyrox workout is a replica of the real event and at the same time a complete cardio session combined with strength-training exercises for the whole body. Moreover, the best thing is that you can start without any additional weights.

What is really Hyrox and what makes it so popular among people?

Hyrox can be explained as a worldwide fitness competition where you have to run every 1km and combine that with exercises based on real-life movements like sled pushing, wall balls, and rowing. You start with one run and then you perform one exercise, you do the same with round No. 2, and later you finish with 8 km and rest of the run if possible in a 90-minute period where you are definitely both strong and endurable.

While everyone knows that CrossFit has various competitions and gym styles, Hyrox is unique in that it has a fixed form and time stage, which allows performers to benchmark their success globally. Those who are new, pairs, or professionals have different categories to take part in, so almost everyone can join in.

Furthermore, if your goal is not to run a marathon, you still can benefit from the workouts that were originally developed for Hyrox. This 3-move complex is aimed to be used for exactly this purpose.

Your Personal 3-Move Hyrox Workout (No Need for Weights)

The power of this exercise is in its ability to provide a full body workout in a very short period of time. You will manage three exercises that, although they are not complicated, will definitely check your cardiovascular endurance and engage your muscles in the manner you have never experienced before. The “You Go, I Go” (YGIG) is a format that you can use with a partner for the exercises. If you are training alone then you can do the 50 reps yourself. Take breaks when necessary but try to finish the set as fast as possible.

You will be doing the following:

  • 50 burpees
  • 50-calorie row (or 3 minutes of high-effort cardio like jump rope or high knees if you don’t have a rower)
  • 50 wall balls (or goblet thrusters with a single dumbbell or kettlebell if no medicine ball is available)

The burpees mainly target every blood-pumping muscle of the body. A row is capable of activating 96% of the muscles in your body, which classifies it as one of the most effective low-impact cardio machines. A wall ball is a great combination of a squat and an overhead press exercise, hence it can work the whole body at the same time.

You may also use a dumbbell or a kettlebell if you do not have a medicine ball. Just make sure to still hold the equipment close to your chest while doing the squat-to-press motion. But, never lose your grip on the heavy object!

This program entails the two key Hyrox characteristics: strength and endurance. The routine involves compound exercises that train a few joints and muscle groups simultaneously. This not only helps in burning more calories but it also promotes the rapid growth of lean muscle and the development of coordination all at once in a high-speed session.

Not only do functional workouts like this burn fat and crack calories, but also, they are perfect for real-life activities such as lifting, jumping, or sprinting. You don’t have to go to the gym and spend an hour working out. The Hyrox inspired workout is done in 15–20 minutes depending on the intensity you want. The program is good for home training, especially if the gym is closed or you simply desire a no-equipment-required workout that is both high-intensity and low-friction.
